General Counsel

The Office of the General Counsel serves as the primary legal advisor to the Board of Trustees and the Superintendent of the Chaffey Joint Union High School District. The office provides guidance on a wide range of legal matters including governance, employment, student rights, contracts, public records, and regulatory compliance. By delivering timely and informed legal advice, the General Counsel supports sound decision-making, helps reduce liability exposure, and ensures district operations align with applicable laws and board policies.

In addition to its advisory responsibilities, the General Counsel plays a critical role in protecting and preserving district resources. Through proactive legal risk management, contract review, internal training, and early dispute resolution, the office minimizes the need for outside legal counsel and costly litigation. This results in substantial cost savings, allowing more funds to be directed toward educational programs and student services.
